Accordingly, the fees charged by the college will be directly affected by the action of the legislature and are therefore subject to change without notice. All fees are due and payable in full before or during the official registration. Checks for the exact amount of charges should be made payable to College of Charleston. Legal Residency: Requirements regarding the establishment of legal residency for fees and tuition purposes are governed by legislation set forth by the South Carolina General Assembly. Under the law, resident status for fee and tuition purposes can be established by independent citizens, military/dependents, and certain aliens. There are also provisions applicable to resident classification of dependent persons. Physical presence in the state solely for educational purposes does not constitute establishment of South Carolina residency for fee and tuition purposes. Contact the Office of Legal Residency for information pertaining to eligibility, and applications. NOTES: 1. The maximum undergraduate part-time and graduate fees per student per semester will not exceed the total academic and general fees for full-time students. Persons 60 years old or older may qualify for free tuition but will pay a nominal fee. *SC resident: Students shall be considered residents of South Carolina if they or their parents are legal residents of the state in accordance with legislation of the South Carolina General Assembly. Contact the Legal Residency Office for information and applications. Military persons on active duty stationed in South Carolina and their dependents may be eligible to pay instate fees, but must be approved by the Legal Residency Office. Auditing CoursesPersons wishing to audit regular academic courses at the college must pay any special courses fees and full per-credit-hour costs. Cougar CardsThe Cougar Card is the official College of Charleston campus card for all students, faculty, and staff. It is used for identification, security, and access to campus buildings and services. The Cougar Card has many features. Funds placed in the Cougar Cash account can be used for purchases at the bookstore, dining locations, copy center, mail services and Clyde’s Convenience Store. This is a prepaid account and payments are made in Cougar Card Services or the Treasurer's Office. The Cougar Card can be used for campus vending in selected beverage and snack machines as well as library copy machines and printers. Report lost or stolen cards immediately to Cougar Card Services, 953-1100 or Public Safety, 953-5609.
Campus DiningParking Fees and InformationResidence LifeRefund PolicyThe College of Charleston authorizes academic and general fees refunds for students who withdraw from school according to the following schedules. Refunds to students will not be authorized beyond the period specified. To have a credit balance refunded, a request must be submitted in writing to the Treasurer's Office. Refund checks are not initiated for students who do not submit a written request; the credit balance remains on account for future terms. Refunds are based on the date of official withdrawal. Students who have outstanding balances at the time of withdrawal, including those on the payment plan, must settle their accounts with the Treasurer's Office. Academic and General Fees

Institutional Refund Policy Students who drop classes before classes begin or during the drop/add period will be awarded financial aid based on the actual hours of enrollment the day after drop/add ends. Students who withdraw from classes after the drop/add period ends may be eligible for a refund of fees. The official college policy and procedure concerning refunds which result from withdrawal or reduction in hours is contained in the "fees" section.
